University professor Lee Feigon offers a spectacularly irreverent documentary of the life and political career of Communist China's late leader Mao Zedong, arguing that despite Zedong's controversial policies, he largely benefited his people. Combining archival footage, interviews, a blend of Western and Eastern media and even animation, Feigon's mockery of Mel Gibson's Passion of the Christ and foray into Mao's legacy entertains as much as it informs.
