The Phantom of Liberty
Lacking linear narration and a traditional plot, surrealist filmmaker Luis Buñuel's absurdly scathing send-up of bourgeois convention is presented as a series of loosely linked comedic episodes. Poker-playing monks use religious medals as chips; police search for a "missing" child who's right at hand; and at an elegant dinner party, guests are seated on toilets and occasionally excuse themselves to retire and eat in private stalls.
