In this dark comedy, Wanda (Holly Hunter) and Verna (Elizabeth Ruscio) both want their daughters to join the high school cheerleading squad. Since Verna's child seems most likely to win, Wanda decides to hire a hit man to kill either Verna or her daughter -- or both. When the story gets out, Wanda's trial turns into a media circus. Michael Ritchie directs this film, which is based on real-life events in Houston.
