Prospectors strike gold in Alaska, and all hell breaks loose. Mine owner Roy Glennister (John Wayne) and barkeep Cherry Malotte (Marlene Dietrich) fight to protect their financial interests from the onslaught of crooked local politicos. Among them is Alexander MacNamara (Randolph Scott), who wants to swipe their find from under their noses. As Glennister and Malotte grow closer, MacNamara's anger and avarice run deeper, fueled by jealousy.
