The Town That Was
Filmmakers Chris Perkel and Georgie Roland move into the once-bustling town of Centralia, Pa., in this stirring account of a mining center that died a slow and painful death -- and the dwindling few who stayed behind to save it. When a seam of anthracite caught fire beneath the town's surface in 1962, a deadly blaze ignited. More than 20 years later, it was still burning, prompting all but 11 of Centralia's 1,600 residents to move away.
