After her new husband, Robert (Carleton G. Young), abandons her in the midst of their honeymoon to attend a business meeting, swimming instructor Cynthia (Esther Williams) struggles to stop herself from falling in love with handsome war hero Thomas (Van Johnson), who becomes equally smitten with her.
