This heartwrenching film is an evocation of the frivolous Tivoli Theatre, which had its heyday in the 1940s and '50s. Authorities are prepared to demolish the theatre in order to expand the Paseo de la Reforma Avenue. The entertainers from the Tivoli set out to protest the theatre's demise -- and in the process, they discover that the mayor, the contractor and even their own lawyer are involved in the scam to tear down the building.
