When Norman (Albert Brooks) informs orchestra conductor Claude (Dudley Moore) that his wife, Daniella (Nastassja Kinski), may be having an affair with musician Maxmillian (Armand Assante), Claude slips into a state of insanity and, while conducting the symphony, dreams up an elaborate scheme to murder her.
