The provocative first season of this series challenges your wits as each episode presents three dramatized tall tales: One of them is true, the others merely fanciful urban legends. Did a man really wake up in a bathtub full of ice with a missing kidney? Do you actually get a free pass at college if your roommate commits suicide? Don't trust the "witnesses" -- some are only actors. Can you figure out which stories are fact … and which are fable?

Common Sense Note

Parents need to know that this docuseries invites viewers to determine which one of the bizarre stories featured on the show are real, and which are urban myths. The archive footage, interviews, and reenactments used to legitimize these stories often feature bloody scenes of violent acts (shooting, stabbing) and can include references to people having sex. Drinking is occasionally visible, and drugs (like marijuana), and drug raids are sometimes part of the story.

Sexual Content

Contains references to people sleeping with one another and romantic rivalries. Women are sometimes visible in skimpy bathing suits.

Violence

Lots of story reenactments show people shooting, stabbing, and bleeding to death. Guns (hand guns; automatic weapons) are visible, and sometimes fired.

Language

Words like "crap" and "hell" are audible.

Social Behavior

The series shows how stories can be constructed in the media to appear believable, even when logic dictates otherwise. It also offers informative details about the real possibility of certain events taking place.

Consumerism

Occasionally Lincoln cars and other brands are referenced.

Drugs / Tobacco / Alcohol

Occasionally alcohol (beer; hard liquor) visible. Illicit drugs like marijuana and crack cocaine are visible and/or referenced. Drug dealing and botched drug raids are sometimes reenacted.
