Depressed that he has no wife or family, middle-aged doctor-comedian-writer Neil B. Shulman (who plays a version of himself), looks for love after a suicide attempt by convincing a theater student to co-star in a romantic film with him. But as his plan hits a few snags, he interviews various Americans for advice in this comedy. Shulman was a producer of the hit Michael J. Fox movie Doc Hollywood and wrote the book on which it was based.
