Wilder (Arliss Howard) and Wallace (Dennis Quaid) are brothers blessed and burdened with the power to set things on fire through thought. But the two have long been alienated from each other, and their combustible relationship grows even more so when Wallace falls in love with his brother's wife, Vida Foudroyant (Debra Winger), who, incidentally, has pyromaniacal tendencies. The stage is set for a confrontation more destructive than napalm.
