Head coach Jerry Moore and Appalachian State took home their second consecutive championship title after defeating Massachusetts by a score of 28-17. Steve Baylark, running back for the Minutemen, ran an impressive 133 yards on 24 carries but was outshone by Mountaineer running back Kevin Richardson, who rushed 179 yards and completed four touchdowns. Appalachian's victory was sealed with an interception by Corey Lynch.
