The Borodin Quartet, founded in the Soviet Union in 1945, draws upon its close relationship with Dmitri Shostakovich in a live concert of the Russian composer's Quartet no. 2 in A Major, as well as Beethoven's op. 58, no. 2. Also, the quartet's leader and cellist, V.A. Berlinsky, gives a master class to a younger group of musicians. Bonus features include Berlinksy's reflections on life in the USSR and his experiences with Shostakovich.
