The Parson's Widow

1920 NR

In Parson's Widow, esteemed director Carl-Theodor Dreyer wends a spellbinding tale about an aspiring parson named Sofren who's engaged to Mari but can't marry her -- due to her father's objections -- until he gets a ministry. So begins a comical course involving silly pranks, half-hearted death wishes and perhaps the fulfillment of a dream. Also includes Dreyer's late-1940s short subjects "They Caught the Ferry" and "Thorvaldsen."
