The Rabbit Is Me

1965 NR

Banned in its native East Germany upon its 1965 release, this provocative drama follows 16-year-old Maria Morzeck (Angelika Waller), who experiences political corruption firsthand after her brother (Wolfgang Winkler) is jailed for "subversive acts" against the government. When she's openly seduced by a married judge, Maria is initially flattered -- until she discovers that his motives are as corrupt as the system that imprisoned her brother.
