Koreyoshi Kurahara uses expressionist lighting and striking cinematography to give a noir feeling to this gangster tale -- one of the first in a long line of bloody crime dramas to come out of Japanese studio Nikkatsu in the 1950s, '60s and '70s. Yûjirô Ishihara stars as an ex-fighter and current restaurant manager attempting to rescue a depressed damsel in distress (Mie Kitahara) from her gangster employer.
