Longtime veteran of stage and screen Jonathan Pryce (born June 1, 1947, in Holywell, Wales) left home at age 16 to attend art school but found his way into drama classes along the way -- and his future was set. By the mid-1970s, he had begun to appear in London productions of plays such as "Hamlet" and "Uncle Vanya."

During this time, Pryce also made his film bow (in Voyage of the Damned), marking the beginning of a long career that would include impressive performances in films such as Brazil (1985), Glengarry Glen Ross (1992) and The Age of Innocence (1993). Pryce bagged the Best Actor prize at Cannes in 1995 for his work in Carrington.

In 2003, Pryce played Keira Knightley's aristocrat father in Pirates of the Caribbean (reprising the part in the 2006 sequel), while his later movies include Leatherheads (2008). The busy actor nabbed an Emmy nod in 2010 for his role in the miniseries "Return to Cranford."
