In this episode, of the popular series, a nasty but rich businessman and a world-famous opera singer come to Oxford to receive honorary degrees. The ceremony is interrupted, however, when a sniper opens fire on the procession of dignitaries. On the case is Inspector Morse (John Thaw), who's not the ideal policeman his superiors think. He's prickly and sarcastic, a confirmed bachelor and an intellectual snob who follows his own rules. But he gets results.
