1929 NR

You'll be tappin' your toes to this early talkie musical (the first musical to win the Best Picture Oscar) that's filled with great tunes by the songwriting team of Arthur Freed and Nacio Herb Brown. Bessie Love and Anita Page are stage-struck sisters who both vie for the affections of song-and-dance man Charles King, with tragic results. Songs include "You Were Meant for Me" and "The Wedding of the Painted Doll." Harry Beaumont directs.
