This faithful screen adaptation of Dostoevsky's &NFi;The Idiot&NFi_; sees Prince Myshkin returning from Switzerland to Russia, where he gazes upon a picture of the lovely Nastasya Philippovna at Yepanchin's house. Enthralled, the prince finds the picture unforgettably beautiful. Meanwhile, Rogojin offers Nastasya 100,000 rubles if she'll become his mistress. She refuses, burning the money. Soon after, things between Nastasya and the prince begin to heat up.
